THANK YOU!! >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Anyway, I recently attended an ESTATE SALE and purchased several AWESOME ANTIQUE TRANSITS, sold them on Ebay and decided to LIST my LAST "TRANSIT" in my Ebay STORE!! ** ANYWAY, UP for BID is this ANTIQUE "SURVEYORS TRANSIT", MADE in TOKYO, JAPAN by the "SOKKISHA COMPANY". I would bet this TRANSIT cost well in upwards of $1000 when new as I'm told it is a VERY HIGH-QUALITY, PRECISION-MADE INSTRUMENT!! This SURVEYORS TRANSIT has the NUMBER "8530" on it and thats the only number I could find. I don't know much about these but I checked what I could and see: a large COMPASS WORKS GREAT; ALL GLASS is GOOD (EVERYWHERE); the Levels are WORKING with good "BUBBLES" in each. I can see several "Horizontal and Vertical lines" when looking through it, so the "cross-hairs" (so to speak) all look good. The "TRANSIT ISTRUMENT" ITSELF appears to be in VERY NICE, WELL-CARED FOR CONDITION. *** Now, on the ANTIQUE, WOODEN STORAGE BOX --- apparently, this great old box isn't original to the transit, as it has a "WARREN-KNIGHT" DECAL on the TOP. The BOX is a PERFECT FIT though for this transit as it FITS GREAT and it is SECURELY MOUNTED inside of it, so the box would surely PROTECT this valuable investment!! The inside of the box has a neat "BRASS PLATE" imprinted with "stadia hairs; ratio 1:100; Constant 036 feet" (whatever all that means, I don't have a clue). The WOODEN BOX is DOVETAILED (or finger-jointed) and is in more of a USED CONDITION and shows wear. You don't find "SOKKISHA" TRANSITS around on Ebay very often and look at the prices if you do. *** WHAT YOU SEE IN THE PICTURE IS WHAT YOU GET!! ++++++++ *******Please see our OTHER AUCTIONS for more UNIQUE and UNUSUAL ITEMS and combine to save on postage.
