Here is a vintage Tweco 300 amp arc-welding ground clamp.  My local Air-Gas sells this clamp for $50 new, plus tax, and the new ones don't say where they're made.  This one was made in Wichita, Kan., U.S.A., as is cast on the body itself. Tweco says these clamps are cast copper alloy with a very high copper content.  I believe it's close to bronze, but Tweco says it's 95-98% copper.  Whatever it is, it's stronger and more wear resistant than brass, which is what the offshore, Asian ground clamps are made of these days. Cast into the side is where this one was cast and assembled--Wichita, Kan., U.S.A.  My kind of tool! The spring on this clamp is not for wimps--it does clamp down securely if you are man enough to squeeze it.  I'm almost 70 and I can squeeze it just fine, but I'm a tough old bird.  I can open the jaws up to 1.5 inches. The steel bolt that tightens down on the ground wire has good threads--no stripped threads in either the bolt or the threaded part of the body of the clamp.  The steel bolt has a ball head and is good for up to 3/0 cable, but I've got one on my Lincoln tombstone AC/DC 225 and the ground wire is smaller than 3/0. I'll ship this by USPS Priority Mail, Small Flat Rate Box, insured and tracked, yesirree!
