1931 Vintage Weston 555 Tube Tester Here's an ancient tube tester in surprisingly good condition. It's designed to test 4 and 5 pin style tubes and apparently, capable of testing Kellog type tubes with the filament brought out on a top cap. It originally sold for $67.50.  A huge sum in those days! The top panel is constructed of thick, heavy Bakelite and the one piece base is cast aluminum. The Weston meters test fine and sweep freely. As you can see in the images, the heavy gauge point to point wiring and rugged components were built to last and show little deterioration even after 85 years! We cleaned it inside and out and installed new rubber feet, as the originals were crumbly. The power cord was cut off at one time, but there's no indication it shouldn't work just fine after a little work. Add a cord, clean the contacts and you'll have a nice tester for those antique globe and coke bottle tubes that later testers can't handle. Or it could be a nice addition to your steampunk creation.
