VistaView CableTec (VVC) Stainless Steel QuickConnect Threaded Terminal for 3/16" Cable The VVC QuickConnect Threaded Terminals provide easily installed tensioning for your cables and is typically housed entirely within your end posts. Threaded Terminals are the most traditional way of installing a cable railing and are typically paired with a second Terminal, SwiftCatch, Deck Toggle or Lag Stud. The QuickConnect terminals allow you to install easily by simply inserting the 3/16" cable 1x19 stainless cable (sold separately) into the self-locking receiver and placing the terminal through your post. Proper tensioning is then required with nuts and finished with a cap (both sold separately in my store). It's as easy as that! No crimping or special tools required! They can be used in any type of end post: wood posts, aluminum or steel and are good for indoor or outdoor applications. The VVC QuickConnect Threaded Terminals are T316 grade stainless steel ("marine grade"). T316 stainless is recommended so that it will not corrode outdoors. The QuickConnect Terminals can be used for cable railings, fences, boats, etc. The terminal threads can be cut down with a saw or grinder if need be. Installation is semi-permanent and requires a special release tool (sold separately) to release the cable from the fitting. VVC recommends 1/8" cable and fittings for Residential applications because it is the smallest you can go while still passing building code. Some people choose to use a larger diameter cable like the 3/16" so that the cable will be more visible, whereas other people would rather see through the railing without seeing anything at all. Commercial projects typically call for 3/16" cable and Industrial applications recommend 1/4". Building codes differ from county to county across the United States, but VVC recommends spacing cables from 3" to 4" to ensure safety. The height of your posts (typically 36" or 42" high) will determine the number of cable runs that will be required.
