Up for auction is this very nice vintage SOLA Constant Voltage Transformer!  I purchased this unit at a recent estate sale ~ check out the incredible details below.  The catalog # for this transformer is 22-719 G127.  It is a Type CVN transformer.  The unit measures approxiamtely 10" by 6" by 8" and it weighs approximately 21 pounds.  The estate details are as follows: Jerome Halter was the inventor and patent holder for the recording process for the RCA VideoDisc.  He was an acoustical engineer in Advanced Research and Development at the Sarnoff Laboratories of RCA in Princeton, New Jersey, who moved to Indianapolis to achieve real time recording speed and to perfect the design for the recording of the VideoDisc.  VideoDiscs were then manufactured in Indianapolis.  Mr. Halter received the Sarnoff Gold Medal for Outstanding Technical Achievement at a ceremony at the Waldorf-Astoria in New York in 1981.  He also worked on the development of color television and on additional acoustical inventions.  His home contained a complete electronics research  laboratory for the recording, playback, amplification and transmission of sound, including instruments for exacting measurement and analysis of sound and also associated electronics.  He continued to do research and development until his passing. This remarkable collection of vintage electronics is from his elaborate home workshop, including a wide assortment of research equipment and devices that he purchased nationally and internationally and from RCA Laboratories, and the RCA 30th Street and Rockville Road plants in Indianapolis.
