Thank you for your interest in this VWR 371 600-Watt Aluminum Top Laboratory Hotplate / Stirrer This hotplate / stirrer was removed from a lab that upgraded some equipment The unit heats quickly, however, the stirrer only spins smoothly above speed setting 5 or so This appears to be due to the fact that the stirrer shaft is a little bent which prevents smooth rotation at low RPM This is most likely fixable, however, know you will need to put a little work in if you want it to be able to stir slowly (at higher RPM's there is no issue) Also, heat setting is by time on / time off, not temperature For example, a setting of 3 will be on 30% / off 70% while a setting of 8 will be on 80% / off 20% of the time - over time temperature will stabilize at each setting of course
