I'm selling off individual taps from the collection of a retired machinist that used to do work for the US government and companies like Bridgeport.  These taps were from his collection that he called the odd ones.  They were all the taps that were unconventional in some way (some may not be).  This tap is 1/2"-14 NPT Interrupted Thread it has the following printed on the shank but the rest is not legible: G 05 This tap is National Pipe Thread The interrupted thread design has the following benefits: Interrupted Thread taper pipe taps reduce friction, increase chip capacity and enhance coolant flow to the cutting teeth for reduced chance of torn threads and improved thread quality. Recommended for a wide variety of materials, especially soft ductile materials and materials producing long continuous chips.
