1-Bromopropane, Propyl bromide, 99%, 50ml CAS Number: 106-94-5  Linear Formula: CH3CH2CH2Br     Molecular Weight: 122.99 Other Names: Bromopropane, 1-propyl bromide, 1-bromopropane, n-propyl bromide 1-Bromopropane (n-propylbromide or nPB) is an organobromine compound with the chemical formula CH3CH2CH2Br. It is a colorless liquid that is used as a solvent. It has a characteristic hydrocarbon odor. Its industrial applications increased dramatically in the 21st century. Like many other liquid halocarbons, 1-bromopropane finds use as a solvent. It is a solvent for adhesives and has been deployed as a replacement for perchloroethylene as a dry cleaning solvent. It is used for the cleaning of metal surfaces, removal of soldering residues from electronic circuit boards, and in the hole transport layer (HTL) of multi-layered OLEDs. As a solvent, it is also used in asphalt production, in the aviation industry for maintenance, and in synthetic fiber production. The chemical's increasing use in the 21st century resulted from need for a substitute for chlorofluorocarbons and perchloroethylene (tetrachloroethylene). 1-Bromopropane can also be used as a gaseous or liquid solvent for degreasing plastics, and optics. It is also used in some aerosols.
