Useful for night fishing, camping etc.   2. Document and forgery analysis:     UV light can sometimes show alterations and erasures to documents.  Alterations or changes will sometimes become directly visible when illuminated by UV light.   3. Crowd and access control:      Often access to events is controlled using an invisible mark on a hand or card that when illuminated with UV becomes visible (fluoresces).   Instead of carrying around heavy and hot black lights, this UV LED penlight can be slipped into a pocket.    4. Crime scene inspection:      Some bodily fluids will fluoresce under UV light. Law enforcement agencies use to inspect crime scenes to detect blood + other bodily fluids and many other things that are not visible to the human eye under normal light conditions. Some people even inspect their hotel sheets before use to see if the beds have been changed.  Arson investigators use UV to search for the presence of accelerants.   5. Currency and Bill verification:       For detecting counterfeit currency, credit cards, drivers licence's, passports, etc. As many of these items have a watermark, image or fibres within them that use UV sensitive inks.   6. Leak detection:      By adding a UV powder or liquid to a system with a leak and using a UV light source, leaks can be quickly found.  Automotive repairmen often use UV leak detection systems for the repair of air conditioner leaks, oil leaks, sunroof leaks, cooling system leaks and oil leaks.   7. Rodent detection:      The urine of many animals, including cats and rodents will fluoresce under UV.    Ultraviolet light itself is invisible to the human eye, but can cause materials such as rodent urine and hair to visibly fluoresce. For sanitation purposes, it is necessary to identify rodent presence in all areas of the food industry, from the large industrial plant to the small retail outlet.   8. Painting and Rug Repair Detection:      Many modern inks, paints and dyes may look identical to old colorings under visible light.  However, under UV, differences can be seen because the chemical composition of newer substances usually includes synthetic materials.    9. Mineral Collecting      For the hobbyist it will make finding minerals among all the other rocks so much easier by making them glow.   10. Sanitary Inspections        The UV light aids in identifying any organic mineral deposits that may remain on insufficiently clean areas. Urine is also easily detected which can be helpfully in locating pet urine deposits in carpets or hard surfaces. Hospitals also use these light to determine when a mattress may need replacing and also check on the performance of their cleaning staff. You could also check out the cleanliness of hotels, etc.   NOTES 1. When using the flashlight on reflective surfaces such as tiles it is recommended that you first shine the flashlight on an area you know to be free of stains.   2. Doing this will allow you to make a comparison between a clean area and a stained surface.  You may want to do this several times before your eyes focus in on the subtle differences between some stains and imperfections in the surface. 3. When using the flashlight on carpets and other fabrics used in furniture and curtains stains will be much more obvious as you can see in the examples in the gallery on our site. 4. If the urine is fresh / wet the salts might not fluoresce. If this is the case let the urine dry and try the light on it again. 5. Some materials such as white sheets will also glow, however stains will be obvious on these materials 7. Dog urine will usually glow yellowish and cat urine will have more of a greenish glow.
