The ChargeGuard unit provides protection for the battery against excessive discharge, yet the convenience of having your CB radio and other electrical accessories operable when you need them regardless of whether the ignition switch is on or not. The unit contains 5 features to protect your battery from excessive discharge and additional protection especially important for electronic accessories. The unit contains built in sensors, that automatically turns on your electrical accessories when the vehicle engine is started and supports a maximum 30 ampere electrical accessory current load. When the engine is shut off, the accessories remain on for a variable period of time that you select from 15 minutes to 15 hours. The delay timer selection is made by a DIP switch setting in one hour increments of time. The second feature is a low voltage detector, that at 11 volts, will take priority over the delay timer and turns the output off within 15 minutes. If the voltage drops further to 10 volts, the output is turned off immediately. This protects a poorly charged battery from excessive discharge, regardless of the remaining delay programmed in the DIP switches. Both conditions are reset when the engine is started. The third feature is a high voltage detector (18 volts) that will help protect your electrical accessories powered by the ChargeGuard from a faulty voltage regulator. In situations where the battery is failing and the motor can not be started or, the alternator has failed, the fourth feature provides a convenient method to turn on your attached electrical accessories for example, for emergency communications on the CB radio to get assistance. There is a button on the end of the unit, that when pressed, restores power to the electrical accessories for approximately 15 minutes. The fifth feature prevents the unit from operating with reversed polarity to protect the attached electrical accessories from reverse voltage damage. These are USED units.
