You are looking at a very special, perfectly working, high end spectrum analyzer from ADVANTEST model R3273. It has way better performance and more functions than AGILENT 8563EC or E4407B. In fact, side by side with them, with the same settings it has a clearly better dynamic range and able to see low signals those Agilent units miss entirely. You can see 50Hz noise sidebands 90dB down on a microwave signal; not many other spectrum analyzers can do this! This model is specified to 26.5GHz and overranges all the way up to 32GHz. It is very well built and has no known flaws. Do not confuse it with the much less performing units widely sold here on eBay, this is a high end spectrum analyzer with top notch firmware and excellent RF performance. The IF resolution bandwidth goes from 1Hz to 10MHz with fast sweep times, allowing for better detail compared to other analyzers. It is LOADED with the best options available for this unit, including digital analysis capability, much improved stability OCXO time base option 22 and improved amplitude accuracy. It also has the very useful and expensive option 74 - tracking generator with step attenuator - factory installed - making this instrument a unique scalar network analyzer with a 100dB on screen dynamic range. Measuring and adjusting filters, attenuators, amplifiers, diplexers, etc. could never be easier! Passes all self tests and works well within factory specifications. Has so many advanced functions - impossible to list here; for those unfamiliar with it, reading the datasheet here can be an eye opener. The firmware of the R3273 is user friendly, has a wealth of useful customizable parameters and functions, like only Advantest were able and willing to develop. It can do a lot of automated measurements like: harmonics content, phase noise, intermodulation, average/peak power and a wealth of analog and digital modulation tests. This is a later build unit, the firmware is on a removable CF card, unlike the flash rom in the earlier versions. An external VGA monitor can also be hooked up and the R3273 will happily print screens on standard printers. It is in great cosmetic shape and will probably serve you for many more years to come. The 6.5" LCD is ultra high resolution, bright and with a wide viewing angle, alowing for high precision on screen measurements. This analyzer is directly supported by the KE5FX's GPIB toolkit, plots can be downloaded to PC directly and signals monitored in real-time. The excellent Phase Noise Measurement utility from the above toolkit works very well too, due to the ultra low phase noise YIG LO of the R3273.
