The major characteristics of these cassettes are as follows: New-Improved Clear Cassette Shells. Cassette shell construction is just as important as the quality of tape it contains, because it is an integral part of the tape transport mechanism. Our shells are as precise and rugged as the tape they house, helping to insure that what you hear is what you get. The dies used in making Communicator and Duplicator series cassette shells are regularly and meticulously checked for adherence to extremely tight tolerances. Maxell’s quality control specifications average 37 percent higher than industry standards. Unique Leader Tape. The four-function leader tape, made of specially treated polyester, provides the following benefits: • Cleans all parts in the tape path, including the heads, for a full 5 seconds With No Abrasion. • Visibility indicates tape travel direction with simple colored arrows. • Shows the letters “A” or “B” printed on the leader so you immediately see which side of the tape you are about to use. This prevents costly and time-consuming recording errors. • Gives you an exact 5-second due at the start of the tape before recording begins, thus avoiding false starts while taping. This special Maxell leader does all this for you automatically, each time you record or play back. The construction of a Maxell Communicator Series or Duplicator Series audio cassette is designed to provide maximum quality that you can hear. Tape Assembly. The leader is held securely in the hub by a pressure fitted clamping pin making slippage impossible. Slip Sheets. A new improved Slip Sheet design includes smooth quiet windability and extends longevity by providing lubrication and ensuring precise stabilized tape guidance, which minimizes wear by forming a uniform tape pack. Guide Rollers and Pins. Crafted of tough, durable polyacetal, Maxell guide rolls are precisely molded without seams and crowned and flanged to assure proper tape alignment. They ride on permanently lubricated precision pins to reduce friction and chatter.
