This issue is 16 pages including the covers measuring about 16.25" x 11.25". This issue is noteworthy since it contains a featured cover article illustrated with large engraving on Screw Cutting and Machining. This article is titled Chasing Screw Threads and features a large engraving titled Cutting Screw Threads With A Hand Chaser. This article gives some history of the craft which originatign with the engineering firm of Maudsley, Sons & Field of England. . Other content includes an article with large engraving on Breton Cattle from France as well as two article on sad irons and lots more. . Scientific American was a leading science and technology publication of the 19th century which is still in print today. Each issue is a large over sized format richly illustrated with numerous engravings. These issues are original antiques published well over 100 years ago. There will typically be some toning of the paper from age as well as a few small nicks or chips on the edges but these issues are all 100% complete, solidly intact and in good to very good shape overall.
