1880s BIANCHINI, FERIER Wood Hand Carved Wallpaper Textile Block Lyons, France This is an original print block had-carved and used formerly in the intricate hand blocking of the fabulous fashion fabrics of the house of BIANCHINI, FERIER. Imported from Lyons, France exclusively by Lord & Taylor (between 1880 and 1910). Founded in 1888 by Charles Bianchini and partners in Lyon, Bianchini-Frier is the longest continuously running silk mill in Europe. The company specialized in jacquard-woven dress and furnishing silks, and gained widespread recognition for its textiles displayed at the Paris Exposition Universelle in 1889. One of a kind piece of art (ready to hang) - measures 24 (L) x 7.5 (W) x 2.25 (W) inches and weighs 5.25 pounds.
