1885 DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE REPORT~farming insects cicadas cattle hog wheat Up for bid is.... A scarce DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE REPORT FOR 1885. There are some really nice color plates in this book including one of edible mushrooms and one of the transformation of cicadas. There are lots of other black and white illustrations, charts and tables throughout, including charts reflecting the production of wheat, hogs and cattle. There are three nice fold-outs (see photos), including a really nice map showing the distribution of broods of the Periodical Cicada and a large fold-out analysing land useage by state. Binding: Cloth hardcover with gilt lettering on spine Size: about 9 1/4 X 6 1/4 inches Number of pages: 640 pages plus plates, a fold-out map & 2 fold-out charts Condition: Good- condition....Pages are clean and unmarked. There is some minor wrinkling/creasing at the top corner of the pages, significant in the first thrid of the book but very minimal in the last 2/3 (see photos). The large fold-out of the analysis of land useage by state has about 1 5/8 inch tear on the left side (see photo). Binding is tight. Cover has moderate wear (see photos). They may have light to moderate page yellowing. May have highlighting, underlining or writing on less than 15 pages (but nothing that makes the book difficult to read). The binding will be tight. The cover may have some light to moderate edge or surface wear. May have some light to moderate creasing. May be missing dust jacket or the dust jacket may even be in very poor condition. Good- : May have highlighting, underlining or writing on 15 pages or more but the markings will be neat and generally brief. The binding may be a little weak or the book a little bent but the book will be in nice shape otherwise. The cover may have some small tears or heavy creasing. Acceptable: Has some serious wear but is still readable and all parts of the book will be useable. There will be no missing pages unless clearly noted.
