Modern Machine-Shop Practice by Joshua Rose, second edition, illustrated with nearly 4,000 engravings. Published by Charles Scribner's Sons in 1892. This is a set of 2 extremely large hardcover books that measure about 13 1/2" x 10 1/2" with a total of 1,063 pages. Volume 1 is in GOOD condition. The cover has wear and several small tears on the spine, the binding is tight, and the pages are clean and in excellent shape with no marks or foxing. Volume 2 is in POOR condition. The description of the condition is the same as Volume 1 and it also has a small dampness stain on almost all the pages (see pictures 10 and 11). It also is COMPLETELY broken in two pieces (see picture 12). We are leaving it as-is and original. The buyer can repair as he sees fit. The exceptionally good part of these books is the excellent condition of the pages, the incredible amount of detailed technical information in the text about machining in 1892, and there are a total of 161 beautiful detailed full-page plates (see pictures 5,6,7,8).
