Here are some examples of images found in this CD:  <>   91 pages in PDF file format. Image sizes 17" x 12" in 300 dpi resolution. This was originally a book of home drawings with plans designed to sell to consumers the ideas for different styles and scales of homes and room layouts - so that they would contact the author (Geo F Barber & Co , Architects) and engage them to provide full plans (offered for sale in the book) or have them engaged to make modified versions of the plans custom to the individuals needs. This was the era when craftsmen homes were getting started, Sears Roebuck was getting into the "kit home" business and everyone envisioned every American having or building their own homes, perhaps mostly from kits delivered to their doors. Just decide what size and shape you want, and what you can afford, and order it from the catalog. The age of both craftsman home and the fad of buying "exotic" consumer goods was upon American life and so this "catalog of homes" fit right in to that era and movement. This is solid with great home designs of the era, ebullient in their colonial and mixed styles. Enough to make any healthy young woman or wife of the era (maybe this one too) dream of life in such a home. So whether you are an architect looking for a book of images of homes with plan drawings (room layouts) or a homeowner looking to fix up an old home and restore it - or build a new one, or just dreaming - or perhaps an architecture student or historian - this is a great book. Do notice that the prices to build these have changed. You are unlikely to find that the materials , let alone the labor, would make such homes buildable for the prices noted here in this book. The 5000 dollar home is probably more like 500,000 or more today. Multiply the stated prices by 100 to 200 depending on where you live, and you are probably closer to reality. A whole book of 91 pages with most of them filled with drawings and plans of great homes! Be warned however, these nice old designs induce a desire to build them - An age of parlors, dining rooms where families actually dined together, verandas where the neighbors stopped over for tea or lemonade and good conversation, warm bedrooms cozy and nice on the second floor, fireplaces that were actually used to warm our homes, kitchens where we gathered to cook and discuss politics and do the homework, mud rooms to dump the boots and slickers and galoshes (remember that word?), and attics that were full of storage where kids could discover grandparents treasures from their youth, and water tanks to keep up the plumbing pressure even. (city water pressures varied back then) People even had genuine Krapper toilets with overhead tanks and pull chains, how cool is that? Get this for the great architecture, or just a great view into our past in America. Either way Enjoy this one, it is a gem from the past NOTICE TO EBAY ABOUT INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS ALL our products and publications are fully compliant with Ebay intellectual property policies.
