1925 United Typothetae Of America Private Book Typography Composition Presswork

Offered is a rare 1920s publication, issued and "loaned" by the United Typotheate of America to the Concord Press in Staten Island, New York, entitled TYPOTHETAE AVERAGE PRODUCTION RECORDS Authorized by the 36th Annual Convention, U.T.A., Cleveland, Ohio.  "Compiled by the Department of Research; approved and recommended by the Standard Guide Committee; issued to the members of the U.T.A. under the direction of the Executive Council." Book bears number 1585, and was apparently a proprietary publication of the U.T.A., and meant to be returned to the Executive Council on request.  An 8-1/2" x 11" book, looseleaf bound, and divided into sections on Composition, Presswork, Pamphlet Binding, Photo-Engravings, Electrotyping Scales, and more.  The purpose of the book was to give the printer a straightforward means of estimating the cost and time involved in particular print jobs, from typesetting to final product.  Sections are individually numbered, so hard to estimate number of pages, but likely between 200 and 300, all printed on one side of the page.  Binder in faded blue cloth, and in great shape.  Overall in Very Good condition.  Four-page correction sheet tucked into binder loose. Very rare, especially since it was not even owned by the printer to which it was assigned, and was likely supposed to have been returned.
