Briggs & Stratton Specification Catalog, by the Briggs & Stratton Corp., Milwaukee, Wisc., 1949. 8 1/2 x 11 paperback, 43 pages. Reprinted by Nation Builder Books, Mebane, NC, June 2010. Please note this is a photoduplicated copy, not an original. The accompanying pictures were scanned from a reprint, not the original. This is a reproduction of an official Briggs & Stratton Specification Catalog, copied directly from a pristine original. The original was given to me by a wonderful retired fellow up in Vermont who had worked on marine engines most of his life even further north, in Nova Scotia, along with some really neat marine engine catalogs and other material from the 1930s and later (email me for details). As originally published by Briggs and Stratton, each engine was covered on one individual sheet, in a special ring binder. Each sheet is dated with a month and year; all are dated 1949. The face and reverse of each sheet was one model of engine. I have rearranged this book so that the photo page (face) and the specification page (reverse) now face each other, instead of being on opposite sides of the same page as they were in the original. The following Briggs & Stratton engine models are covered: 5S 6S 8 8FB 8-R6 N NP NPR-6 9 9B 9FB 9-R6 14 14B 14FB 14-R6 23 23B 23FB 23-R6 There is at least one photograph of each engine, followed by General Specifications such as Bore, Stroke, Piston Displacement, Carburetor, Piston Rings, Valves, and so on. The facing pages has a DIMENSIONED line drawing of the engine, followed by a full graph of the engine’s Power Curve. The last two pages of this book are reproductions of two pages of a four-page Briggs and Stratton advertisement found in the original ring binder. Please note this is a photoduplicated copy, not an original. The accompanying pictures were scanned from a reprint, not the original.
