  SINGER Tabletop Electric Sewing Machine, Patented 1949!  Vintage 1951 SINGER 128-3 Celtic-swirl Electric Table-top Vibrating Shuttle Sewing Machine with wooden case and accessories TESTED AND WORKING WITH FABRIC AND THREAD Over 64 Years old. The wooden sewing machine case comes with its original key and accessories box and manual! Beautiful condition and in working order! This is a model 128-3 SINGER Electric sewing machine from 1951, patented in 1949, with an 128-13 manual and was manufactured in Canada by THE SINGER MANUFACTURING CO., ST.JOHN’s, P.Q., Canada.   This sewing machine was previously incorrectly listed as a model 128-13.Thanks go to the ebayer that pointed this out to us - much appreciated.)   The machine has a high-gloss black finish. The gold ornamentation on the machine is of the “CELTIC SWIRL” style that was used in the USA in the 1930s and 1940s. It features a low shank and vibrating hook. Uses 15x1 needles.   The 128-3 was described on the ‘International Sewing Machine Collectors' Society’ website as “Designed for operation by foot power and regularly furnished with a treadle stand. Has spoked balance wheel, thread cutter, needle thread take-up cover. Testing: Sewing Machine tested and works, but being so old it is being SOLD AS IS. Rated Overall Condition of Sewing Machine: 09/10 VG (VERY GOOD PLUS) Overall condition of this Sewing Machine is very good.  Cosmetically the Sewing Machine looks excellent. Mechanically the Sewing Machine is sound. However there is one repair to the corner to the left of the lock on the wooden case cover. Please take the time to view the photos using the zoom feature for a closer look at item condition, but our close inspection of the item and the wooden carrying case indicated the following: Sewing Machine Cosmetic Condition: Excellent Sewing Machine Body, Structural integrity: Very good. Sewing Machine Body, any engravings by previous owner: No Sewing Machine Body, condition of Paint Finish: Excellent. Condition of decals: All the decals are in excellent condition. Condition of Serial Number stamp: Excellent   Condition of Inside of Sewing Machine:  Very Good. Condition of Sewing Machine Rubber belt: Good Sewing Machine Mechanical Condition: Working.   Sewing Machine Electric Motor: Working.  Condition Excellent except for metal plate that has the motor rating and part number which is quite scratched. Sewing Machine Electric Motor Controller: Working.   Any Rust: No. Exterior of Wooden Case Top Cover: Good.  However the corner to the left of the lock has been strengthened using a metal screw. Has a few minor nicks in shellac. Also has some dots of white paint. Assume it is from ceiling paint splatter from when someone was painting and did not cover the case. See photo. The rest of the case cover as no issues and still has all its four felt pads. There is some light hazing of the shellac gloss from rubbing that would have occurred when the case was opened and closed. Interior of Wooden Case Top Cover: Excellent condition. Very little wear. Decal on Exterior of Wooden Case Top Cover:  Gold “SINGER” decal has a small nick in the letter “N”, other than that excellent. Exterior of Wooden Case Sewing Machine Bed: Good. No repairs visible. There is some light hazing of the shellac gloss from rubbing that would have occurred when the case was opened and closed. Interior of Wooden Case Sewing Machine Bed: Excellent.   Wooden Case Sewing Machine Bed accessories compartment: Excellent. No noticeable scratches on top-side of painted metal cover. Bottom of painted metal cover has no the normal were around the fastener from the fastener being turned to release or fastener the compartment cover. Wooden Case locking of cover to Sewing Machine Bed:  The keyed lock on the Sewing Machine’s wooden case opens and close easily, but the key is missing. Case Handle: Metal.  Very good condition. Sewing Motor controller: Excellent condition. Rubber foot pads like new. Loosen the thumb screw at the front of the hemmer and move the                   slide to the  right or left until the small pointer is against the desired width; then tighten the screw. Insert the edge of the fabric between the slide and the                   number gauge, and draw it backwards and forwards until the hem is formed. Lower the presser bar and start to sew making sure the guide remains full of                      cloth. To make a hem more than 1” wide either remove the thumb screw and slide, or loosen the screw and draw the slide to the right as far as it will go                   and then turn it towards you.
