1958 HOWARD HUGHES SIGNED LEGAL DOCUMENT, 1963 TWA TRIALS PRESS PHOTO, 1958 LOAN 1958 HOWARD HUGHES SIGNED LEGAL DOCUMENT, 1963 TWA TRIALS PRESS PHOTO, 1958 LOAN For those that know the story and or have read the book "Howard Hughes his life and madness" this lot is a page or rather pages right out of the book in particular pages 245 to 255 and is everything related to Hughes loss of  TWA. As Hughes loans became due and the real possibility of losing Hughes tool became apparent Hughes gave in to Dillon reads proposal to hand TWA over to a voting trust and in 1961 the papers were signed by Holiday after Ray cook gave the OK at Wilmington trust. Included in this lot: 1. 4 page legal sized legal document dated 1958 signed Howard R Hughes in blue pen witnessed by Dallas Keller Hughes personal secretary giving Ray cook power of attorney to act on his behalf to negotiate extensions on loans from Irving trust that Hughes used to finance planes for TWA and purchase RKO as well as the films jet pilot and the conqueror, loans that were made against TWA assets leading to the anti trust suit against Hughes and his loss of TWA and eventually his sanity. 2. An original press photo from the 1947 congressional hearings used again for the 1963 TWA trials with the article glued to the back and mentions how Hughes didn't even bother to show up despite the judges orders. 3.a 2 page document seeking an extension on a 1959 loan for 7 million Signed Howard R Hughes by Raymond cook, as well as a 1959 loan request signed Howard R Hughes by Cook. 4. A reference copy of one of the loan agreements mentioned in the power of attorney with Hughes name printed in the signature space. 5. A 1961 letter to Hughes demanding full payment of 10.5 million dollars plus 6% interest for a loan that was defaulted and was due to be paid in 1960. 6. 3 letters from Dillon Read each signed by the president, the Vice President and the treasurer. 7. A 1961 letter from Wilmington Trust relating to a voting trust for Hughes Atlas holdings in his nominee Orrin Henry's name. 8. 2 W. Union telegrams Dec. 1957 consenting to the issuing of 12 million dollars of short term notes by TWA and the subordination of Hughes tool and any rights it may have as a result. 9. A letter from cook handing over the rights to the RKO Films "Jet pilot" and "The conqueror " to Irving trust as collateral for a loan. 10.  A 1958 telegram to Irving trust from Hughes 11. A 1959 agreement between RKO and Hughes in relation to the licensing of the film jet pilot staring john Wayne signed Howard R Hughes by Raymond cook signed as well by RKO. 12. A 1960 TWA annual report. The document and all the material listed here originated from the Irving trust collection. A large collection of documents and thousands of papers that documented and chronicled the 10 year relationship between Hughes and Irving trust through out the 50's in Hughes efforts to finance his empire through the funding by Irving trust and the actions that will lead to Hughes Loss of TWA. After Hughes death in 1976 and Prior to 1988 Irving trust at 1 wall st. NYC carefully catalogued the thousands of correspondence,telegrams,memos,personal articles and any dealings in there 10 year history, along with loans it had taken over from Mellon bank with an IT number unique to every piece making it easy to identify any piece coming from this collection by the IT # in its lower right. The bulk of witch now resides intact in a private collection. but in 1988 in the confusion that followed the hostile take over of Irving trust by the bank of NY the collection was left behind when Irving vacated the building. and subsequently thrown out with all the other trash when bank NY took over. But it was miraculously saved by a sanitation worker who spotted stock certificates in the boxes and grabbed the boxes. All signatures and documents are unconditionally guaranteed authentic.
