2/0 PGA Polyglycolic Acid Absorbable Synthetic Sterile Thread Sutures 20mm 3/8 Circle Reverse Veterinary Use Compared to VISORB and Vicryl. PGA suture is an ideal and time tested synthetic absorbable suture, widely used by surgeons all over the world.  PGA sutures superior features over catgut are predictable absorption, outstanding tensile strength, in-vivo inertness and excellent handling properties. Polyglycolic acid sutures are coated with equal parts of Polycaprolactone and Calcium stearate less than 5% w/w. Polyglycolic acid suture retains approximately 75% of the initial tensile strength after 2 weeks, 50% of tensile strength after 21 days and 25% after 28 days of implantation and essentially absorbs within 60 – 75 days. Advantages: PGA sutures are specially coated with Polycaprolactone and Calcium Stearate in order to create a smoother suture that will pass through tissue easily. PGA sutures have excellent tensile strength which is better than Polyglactin sutures and catgut sutures. PGA sutures have good knot security and it has easy knot placement. PGA sutures are available with needles made from 300 series alloy steel for superior strength, sharpness and performance. PGA sutures are tightly braided to enhance strength and improve the surface smoothness. Characteristics: PGA absorbable Synthetic 12 sutures x 75cm 3/8 reverse cut 22mm USP size 2/0.
