We do require a certified electrician to install the light fixture both for the safety reason and proper installation. For the safety reason, we prewired all light fixtures to 277v. A certified electrician who is specialized in commercial lighting should know how to open the light fixture, release the hot wire (black) from 277v, and reconnect it to 120v (orange wire with black tip) with the cap, and put wire nut on the 277v wire lead to keep the light fixture from burning. All of our wires are properly color coded by UL standard. A certified electrician who specialized to install the commercial grade of light fixture does have the knowledge to install the light fixtures in a safe and proper way. Disclaim: The above description is not the complete installation procedure for the light fixtures, but only an explanation of how to change 277v to 120v. The complete installation procedure is depending on the installation circumstance. For safety and proper installation, only certified electricians should install this type of commercial light fixtures.
