Amps.. Amps, is the number 1 factor in matching the correct switch for your application. Horsepower ratings have been made suspect by retail compressor dealers over the years. Because of these scewed horsepower ratings, the only way you can find your motors TRUE power is by the Amp rating. The Amp rating does not lie. Bare in mind, Pressure switches do not care what voltage you have. Pressure switches will run from 12 volts through 600 Volts. Amps are the most important. If you ARE using a magnetic starter, any standard pressure switch will work fine with your application. The magnetic starter is taking 90+% of the load, and only milli-amps are needed to make the pressure switch function properly. If you ARE NOT using a magnetic starter, and have your motor wired directly through your pressure switch, make sure your electric motors amp rating is less than the Max amp current of the pressure switch.   2: What Pressure?? what pressure do you need the compressor to Cut in & Cut out at. Most pressure switches come 2 ways from the factory. 95-125 or 140-175. Bare in mind, all of the pressure switches we carry can be adjusted up or down. you can find out how much they can be adjusted by whats called the "Pressure Differential". All of our pressure switch listings show you the differential amount.   3: Do you require an unloader?? The unloader is the smaller 1/8" fitting that comes out of the side of the pressure switch. It normally connects to the check valve thats located in your tank through copper tubing. If your application does not require an unloader, you simply do not connect it, and the pressure switch will run and work fine. all of the pressure switches we carry have unloaders. again, you do not have to use the unloader if your application does not call for it.   4: What type of Connection Port do you need?? Almost all pressure switches come 1 of 2 ways. Either Single Port connection or Four Port Connection. The Four port connection allows you the ability of connecting other accessory items to your pressure switch, example.. gauge, safety valve, regulator, etc etc. You can plug the unused ports with a 1/4" plug. If you have no need to connect any additional accessory items to your pressure switch, a single port connection is all that you would need.   5: All of the Pressure switches we carry have On/Off levers. If you have another way of turning your compressor on/off , simply leave the pressure switch on at all times.
