The working point of the solder is (400°C) (572°F) where the aluminum oxide dissociation occurs so as the solder and the workpiece can merge. (Cohesive bond!)   Specifications (AL-400): Compared to the aluminum it is a harder, more solid material. It creates a rather solid bond. After reaching the melting point, it has a medium viscosity (internal friction), so greater than 10-12mm ( 1/2 "inch) hole may be overlapped by the solder.   Utilization (AL-400): General purpose, creating os high strength mechanical joints,  thread repairs, cracks, patching holes, places exposed to higher temperatures, modeling, for hobby use. The soldering can be performed by gas heater (Propane torch). The heating device used for soldering, always shall be chosen compared to the workpiece.  It cannot be used to alloys containing high levels of magnesium! Video AL-400: AL-400
