I have a pile of these HP8640B Generators, and pulled one out and powered it on. It looks like it is working for the most part, It tunes smoothly, and all the controls seems to work. It has a problem which may be in the filter module: It only puts out a signal (meter indication power level) on the high band 250-540 MHz, and there is no RF output below that band. Since this is the band that the cavity outputs directly, I assume something has happened to stop division for the lower ranges. The counter does display the frequency however, on these lower ranges. I hooked it to a spectrum analyzer and found it was putting out a signal properly at the right levels for the high band. I checked AM and FM modulation and they work correctly. It is not all beat up like a military unit usually is, this was at a private company that closed down. It has option 003, reverse power limiter and is .5-512 MHz unit, it has the feet on it. I have listed it as parts as I do not want anyone disappointed, but when given a cursory check-out, appears fine, apart from listed defect, however sold "As-Is", I am not a used equipment dealer, just a guy with a lot of stuff! So you can use this to fix an optioned unit or two, or bring this up to snuff, etc., Have fun! I still use one of these, they are a great generator, classic in design and provide a lot of capability for cheap!!!
