NEW AND IMPROVED KIT On Sale - only $95 DIY 3" Scintillation Detector Kit - This BASIC KIT includes a Hamamatsu R6233 PMT & Bicron BC412 Plastic Scintillator Block. THE IMPROVED KIT NOW INCLUDES the electronics and instructions to make the voltage divider, a high quality BNC connector, and enough Coupling grease to make several PMT to Scintillator couplings. Each kit leaves my lab guaranteed to satisfy. Ships with detailed and illustrated instructions for installing the voltage divider and building your scintillator detector. All you really need is a housing or even just black vinyl tape to complete a working detector. Check my other listings for a complete kits that includes housing materials. Installing the Voltage Divider on the provided PMT requires soldering. I have now removed the original Hamamatsu Voltage Divider so no desoldering of the old part is necessary. Once modified, these PMT and BC412 scintillator combinations are great for Gamma Scintillation Counting with the included scintillator block, but the PMT itself is very high quality and also an excellent choice to use in gamma spectrometry with the right crystal. These PMTs are driven easily by voltages starting around 500 volts, and normal operating voltage is 750 to 900 volts (Maximum recommended 1100 volts). The R6233 is a 3 inch (76mm) diameter, Head-on type, Bialkali photocathode. The maximum spectral response is 300 to 650 nm, peaking near 435nm, originally designed for NaI or plastic scintillator based gamma cameras. I sell tubes already modified if needed, but doing it yourself sometimes is half the fun. PMTs with Custom Voltage Dividers are also available upon request.
