In this case, the optical system is not able to receive the transmitted lights from the bottom so the reflected EPI lighting system is introduced. The light goes down through the objective and reflected by the specimen and travels back to eyepieces and camera(if mounted) through the same objective. Unlike other metallurgical microscopes on the market, this one has a quaduple nosepiece, instead of a triple nosepiece. It also comes with 5 high quality PLAN field achromatic objectives (the top level of objectives) which provide up to 1600x magnification.
