Hyde Tools Vintage 05410 3-Inch Flexible Drywall Joint Musical Putty Knife with Wood Handle This listing is for four(4) old stock putty knives or drywall joint/taping knives A musical putty knife? I suppose that requires an explanation. These putty knives are made of a high grade steel that rings like a bell when struck. These are new old stock putty knives Made in USA by Hyde Tools way back in 1990. Back then there were still some quality tools being made. if you go to a hardware store and look at the new putty knives you will see many with wavy steel that have a dull thud when struck. These knives have carbon steel blades and are made out of flat stock without waviness. They have a flexible blade perfect for joint taping. They have a simple "old school" wood handle that is easy to twirl in your fingertips. The new plastic handled putty knives may give a better grip, but they do not give good fingertip control. These putty knives can be sharpened to make a very effective gasket scraper. Note the offset, slightly angled blade for optimal positioning. As these have been in storage for over 22 years there is some surface rust on some of the blades. This wipes of easily with a wire brush or scotch brite pad. Pictures shows some examples of the rust. Last 2 photos show a rusted blade and the same blade after a few seconds with a wire brush. Check my other listings for savings on a lots of 1 or 10 of these putty knives.
