6 + Chocolate Muscovy Duck Fresh and Fertile Hatching Eggs for Sale! (Extras will be added if the girls provide.) The Muscovy Duck is unique, the only domestic ducks that aren't derived from Mallards. People appreciate them for their intelligence, friendly and trusting personality and their distinctive appearance. Muscovy ducks don't quack as is typical of other Duck Species and are generally quiet, except of an occasional hiss from the drake. Their eggs take longer to hatch than other duck eggs - about 36 days. Other breeds of ducks, only brood their eggs for about 28 days. Our Muscovy hens lay about 80 - 100 nice big eggs a year on average. The eggs are excellent for eating and baking, especially for those with allergies. Duck eggs can be eaten by most people who have egg allergies. If you've never eaten Muscovy, you should know that it's really something. Muscovy is not at all greasy like other duck meat, it's more like veal, with a fine texture, very little fat, and a unique and delicious flavor. They come from South America and they're tree birds rather than water birds. So they don't need a pond to swim in (they do need water, but a large pan will do). And boy can they fly! They're bigger and heavier than other ducks, and flying gives them large and powerful breast muscles and strong, meaty legs. Muscovy breast looks like a fair-sized steak, you wouldn't guess it was duck. Our Muscovy flock consists of 2 Chocolate Drakes covering 8 Chocolate Hens or females. A couple of our girls do have some small amounts of white on their heads. One has a couple white wing feathers. Just FYI. Muscovies are friendly and intelligent ducks and make wonderful pets. They have just started laying again, and I don't want to hatch before the first of the year... so this is your chance to get some of these beauties. We did hatch a couple ducklings earlier this fall, to check fertility, and I used some for Christmas baking, so yes they are fertile. I have no idea how long or how many they will lay at this time of year. If you want to hatch some Chocolate Muscovies, get them now! If you need more photos of our birds or eggs, just ask, before bidding. Eggs are wrapped individually in tissue then bubble wrap, then wrapped in more bubble wrap and and shipped big end up to help keep the air cell stable during transit. The individually wrapped eggs are placed in a well padded box. Then that box is placed in another well padded box. This protects the box from being smashed, helps insulate the eggs from high/low temps and adds protection from breakage. We cannot protect from bad handling, shaking and X-Ray by the USPS. We will add a heat pack, at no additional cost, if the weather is cold out. Eggs are shipped the same day or day after payment is received. Specific ship dates should be requested before bidding, as we have lists to fill. We'll do our best to work with you. We will only ship to the lower 48 states of the USA. No international sales. All eggs are shipped USPS Priority Mail and typically arrive 2 to 3 days after shipping. We will be happy to put your phone number on the box and request the box be held for pick up or that the PO call you on arrival. We will mark the box per your request. We ship the freshest eggs possible, never more than 3 days old, and package to the best of our ability, in a way that will limit the chance of breakage or damage.
