After receiving the eggs, carefully unpack the eggs and let them REST for at least 12 hours with the pointed side down at room temperature before you put them in a pre-conditioned incubator. Duck eggs hatch in about 28 days. For the first 25 days, the temperature needs to be about 99.5F and the humidity 86%, and turn them about 3-7 times a day. For the last 3 days, they will go in "lock-down". Lock-down means the eggs will not be turned any more, temperature should go down to 98.5F and the humidity up to 94%. Sometimes a regime of cooling and spraying duck and goose eggs results in better hatchability. Start after about 10 days of incubation. Open the incubator or remove the eggs so they cool. If you have an infrared temperature gun, cool the eggs until the shell surface reaches 86 degrees. If you do not have a way to accurately read the temperature, hold the egg to your eyelid. If it feels warm it needs more cooling, if it feels neutral you are done cooling, if it feels cool you have cooled too long. Then you can spray the eggs with room temperature water and return them to the incubator. The incubator should be able to warm up in about the same amount of time it took to cool the eggs. Do not spray and cool after day 25. The actual consequences of spraying is interesting. One consequence is it changes the membrane of the egg so a greater percentage of moisture is lost during incubation. Ideally a duck egg loses about 13% of its weight between the time it is laid and day 25 of incubation. Losing significantly more or less than this reduces hatchability. We will always send the freshest eggs. .Eggs will be 1-2 days old at the time of shipping , most of the time they are picked up in the morning of shipping. We wrap and pack each egg securely so you have the best possible chances of hatching. The eggs we hatch ourselves show a close to 100% fertility rate. We do not guarantee fertility or hatching of the eggs as we have no control over what happens to them when they leave . For any eggs that arrive broken in shipment, we will issue a refund for the broken eggs or replace at our discretion. We will need pictures of the broken eggs. YOU MUST CONTACT US WITHIN 24 HOURS OF RECEIVING THE EGGS. Some of the shipping damage can not be seen from the outside of the egg.
