Over pressurizing may result in damage and or serious physical injury by explosion.   Warning, Explosion and or serious injury may result. DO NOT:   1) Use over 30 psi. 2) Leave unattended while in use. 3) Attempt to open the lid while under pressure. The recommended air pressure for curing most acrylic resins is between 18 and 22 psi. See the acrylic (resin) manufacturer’s specifications for air pressure (psi) and curing time.   Maximum recommended air pressure is 30 psi. If  you require over 30 psi, DO NOT use this pressure pot. Using over 30 psi may result in an explosion and cause damage (s), and or serious physical injury.   It is recommended that you read and use the following steps for safe operation. It is also recommended that you first test these steps using a small amount of acrylic to cure as a test run. This will assure your understanding of the proper and safe use of this product.   As mentioned on the listing, the handles must be attached to the pressure pot. Refer to the illustrated pictures. SAFETY FEATURES: See the Full Figure picture for each of the following.   1) Air Vent Lock. This feature rises from the handle as pressure increases and locks the lid to prevent it from being opened while under pressure. It disengages when the pressure is released allowing the lid to be opened.   2) An Overpressure Plug. It is designed to pop out only if the unit is pressurized over the 30 psi maximum. This allows all the pressure to escape to prevent an explosion.   This is a much more reliable overpressure feature than the standard mechanical safety valve which are inaccurate, unreliable, and tend to fail due to moving internal parts. It is also much easier and less expensive to replace.   Please note that once the overpressure plug pops out it will look the same, but would have been stretched, and no longer hold pressure above about 15 psi more or less. Replacing the overpressure plug will be the buyer's responsibility. Replacements can be found on eBay for as little as about $5.00. You should look for Presto overpressure plug 09915 as a replacement.   3) An adjustable valve allowing variable pressure settings for desired operation pressure to temperature settings (normally between 15 and 28 psi) for sterilizing.   4) A 0 to 60 psi air pressure gauge (display also shown in Bars).   USING THE POT SAFELY:   1)  Pour desired amount of hot water into the pressure pot.   2)  Place your orthodontic appliance into the pot.   3)  Secure the lid (seal) onto the pressure pot in the locked position. DO NOT apply additional heat after securing or sealing the lid due to risk of damage (s), and or serious physical injury by explosion.   4)  SEALING THE LID SECURELY: Place the lid on the pot body     (see Figure #3), turn the handles towards one another until the handles are lined up one over the other; the pot     is now sealed and ready for use.   5)  Apply air pressure through the valve stem, normally between 18 to 22 psi. See the acrylic manufacturer’s specifications for air pressure (psi) and curing time.   6)  Allow acrylic to cure for acrylic manufacturer’s recommended time period.   7)  When the curing process is complete, remove the pressure from the pot by pressing on the overpressure plug gently until the pressure has been completely released and the air vent button on the handle goes down on its own. Open the pot, remove the contents and you are done. DO NOT attempt to open the lid until you have removed all air pressure.   8)  Open the pressure pot and remove the orthodontic appliance and clean the pressure pot.   MAINTENANCE:   It is recommended that you wash, or at least rinse the pressure pot after each use. This includes removing the gasket and rinsing it and all edges of the lid to remove any and all debris from all surfaces. Bits and pieces of lab stone, acrylic, and just about anything laying around the work area tend to make their way on or behind the gasket. Any debris on or behind the gasket may cause it to gradually wear out. As it wears, it will no longer create a proper seal and allow the pressure to escape.   When cleaning, it is further recommended that you take a moment to examine the opening on the back side of the air pressure gauge to assure the opening is also free of debris. If there is any debris or blockage, use a pin or needle to remove it and rinse with water.   A clean and well maintained pot is a reliable pot that should provide years of use and produce as expected time after time.
