From the Manufacturer Tear Mender is ideally suited for durable, long lasting and permanent bonds or repairs to items used both indor and out. Tear Mender is water-proof, flexible, permanent, quick-drying, UV resistant, eco-friendly, non-toxic and acid-free. The strongest repairs utilize a patch being applied to the underside of the damaged garment or item. GENERAL USE DIRECTIONS Shake well before use. Spread thin later of Tear Mender onto patch or the item being repaired. For thicker material, apply to both surfaces. Press the two surfaces together and allow to dry. On most fabrics, dries to usable bond in 3 minutes. Machine washable in 15 minutes. Leather, vinyl, or other non-breathable material may require up to 30 minutes for Tear Mender to cure. Best if used within 12 months of purchase. Spot test when used on sheer or light fabrics. NOTE: On materials it can penetrate Tear Mender dries permanent and is not soluble. A little Tear Mender goes a long way so avoid applying excessive amounts. Not recommended for use on silk, sheer fabrics, high-content polyester fabrics, or nylon Customer Comments: I can't believe I never heard of this product before a few months ago... since then, I keep finding new uses for it. (Case in point: Just the other night I did a quick repair of a couple of oven mitts that had their seams torn apart a bit when I washed them.) Tear Mender creates a bond that is actually stronger than the fabric itself, and it's really quick and easy to use. The only caveats: 1) if you use this on thinner fabrics, it will stiffen them and probably discolor them, since the fabric soaks up the glue -- thus, it's best for either thicker fabric or if you are using it in a hidden seam; 2) it's easy when you're using it to get a drop or two on your pants or shirt -- this is to be avoided at all costs, however, since it will create a little rubbery stain on them that you will NEVER get out -- so either wear "paint clothes" or just be very careful when gluing. (It does come off your fingers very easily, though -- just rub it off -- and it's non-toxic.) Overall, Tear Mender is an awesome product, and you will always want to have a bottle of it in your cupboard. It might even be as useful as the duct tape and WD-40! ................... I've seen some conflicting reviews on this product, and I have decided to try it myself. I'm very weary of glue type repair products ... as success with them is usually spotty. The first time I tried to use this, I used a bottle that someone else bought. The product on the inside, was kind of sluggish and clogged the applicator. I thought I was using it wrong, so I checked the instructional videos on tear mender's website - and I'm glad I did. I found out, if your tear mender is like this - it is past its usable life, and is expired - return it. Tear mender should be liquid, very easy to apply. To apply, it's very simple - use it exactly as directed. Grab some scrap fabric that matches your repair, put tear mender on the garment and the scrap - and stick it together. The hold is instant, it's strong in a few minutes. I was impressed - this stuff is awesome. It holds better than a sewn repair! Why? It bonds the frayed tear. VERY GOOD PRODUCT, I can't stress that enough. I'm seriously glad that I dug a little deeper with this product - as I just saved a couple of my favorite pairs of pants with it (they were un-sewable, and I was about to toss them.) This was my last ditch effort on them, and it worked. VERY happy with this great product - and believe me, if it's not working for you - you're probably not using it right.
