The reason it is a "second" is  that there is a "wave" in the blade. It is on the Back Side of the blade and it is visible in photo #3. It starts at the lower left side of the blade (in the photo) and continues to the right and goes just under the word "seconds"  This is purely a cosmetic flaw. It is not a scratch. It cannot be felt, it's just a wave. Other that that, this knife is perfect! It is also Stamped "Jimmy John's" because it was made  for a customer. Because of the wave, you have the chance to own this knife for a fraction of the retail price!
