8 Pin Round Sockets for “Can” Type IC’s or Transistors: 5/Lot This socket is for round metal can IC’s sometimes referred to as TO-99 case style or it can be used for standard transistors in various case sizes. Socket body measures about .354” Diameter x .41” High. Pins are .25” High Listing is for socket only. Devices shown in photo is for illustration purposes only. Transistor sockets are hard to find. I have only come across a few places selling them and the prices are over $2 apiece. They are a good thing to use especially if you want to experiment with various transistors in a circuit. Just plug the transistors in and out. As an avid builder of QRP transmitters, I use transistor sockets all the time in my circuits. Transistor sockets are also good in preventing overheating the device when soldering to the circuit board. When using a socket, you will be soldering the socket pins not the device. Keep in mind, this socket has 8 pins. If you are using a transistor and not a Can Type IC, you will only use either 3 or 4 pins. When building your circuit board, just cut the remaining pins so you don’t have to allow for 8 holes. Listing is for five (5) pieces. I always combine items to save you on shipping costs. If you contact us to see where your item is, and we tell you it has been shipped, that is all we can do. On small packages, we do not use delivery confirmation because of the high cost. The cost to use confirmation overseas will far exceed the price of the item purchased. If the package has not arrived by 12 weeks, we will issue you a refund or a replacement if the item is available. According to Ebay statistics, only 19% of sellers in the United States will ship overseas. And according to Ebay surveys, those who do not ship overseas site customer complaints from long delivery times as the reason. We have chosen to do business with our international friends. However, we ask for your patience. Too often we get emails asking where my item is when it has not even been a week or two. Our next choice will be to either discontinue international sales or charge for delivery confirmation which will add considerably to the cost. Please be patient.
