Following is a description of each volume., but first let me tell you that these are photocopied reproductions I have done myself. That would be me: Nation Builder Books, Mebane. Date of reproduction is 2012. Yep, they’re brand spanking new! There were originally published by the International Textbook Co., Scranton, Penn., for the Bureau of Aeronautics, Department of the Navy, 1943.Airframe Assembly Tools, Part 1, from 1943, 5 1/4 x 8 1/4 paperback, 35 pages, with one oversized fold-out (the cost of photocopying something bigger than 11x17 caused my eyeballs to bleed!). Has 21 photos and line drawings. Explains the design and use of special jigs and fixtures used to control the placement and alignment of aircraft airframes, including tooling procedures; tool masters and master gages; stability and tolerance of tool masters; control masters; prototype tooling and mating jigs; and main fuselage jig. Airframe Assembly Tools, Part 2, from 1943, 5 1/4 x 8 1/4 paperback, 42 pages. Has 32 photos and line drawings. Discusses design and fabrication; types of assembly jigs (picture-frame, single-beam, and three-dimensional); the advantages of oil-well casing for reducing torque deformation; box section jigs; triangular jig beds; methods of measuring and checking (including electrical measuring devices; use of surveyor’s transit, telescope, and collimator; component gages; and setting up an outer wing jig.
