This is a new AirStar Separator Roll: the AirStar part number is XB-27301 . The outer ring is made from case hardened D2 tool steel. It is 2 1/8" in diameter and 3" long with two pulley type grooves. The compressed air connection is 1/8-27 NPTF. AirStar hydrostatic separator rolls are often used for guidance and directional change of synthetic filaments, fibers, yarns, cords, and films in extrusion, spinning, drawing, draw-twisting, winding, and texturing machinery. The AirStar Separator Roll (sometimes called an air bearing) is a hydrostatic bearing. The rotating roll and stationary shaft are separated by a thin film of pressurized air, which is supplied through the hollow shaft. The unique carbon-against-carbon construction used within the AirStar bearing tolerates intermittent overloads from excessive wraps, tension, vibration, or transient loss of air supply.
