American Carbide Tool Carbide-Tipped Tool Bit for 45 Degree Boring, Right Hand, C5 Grade, 0.3125" Round Shank, TRE 5 Size The American Carbide Tool TRE-style C5 grade carbide-tipped brazed tool bit has a left-hand cutting direction for roughing or heavy machining when boring to a square shoulder in 45-degree bars on steel and steel alloys. The TRE-style tool shape has a 45-degree side cutting angle and a positive, 6-degree rake angle that provides a sharp edge for making continuous cuts. It also has a left-hand cutting direction for left-to-right feed. The tool can also be used with a 15-degree lead angle to bore to a shoulder in 30-degree bars. The tool has a C5 grade uncoated carbide tip, which provides good resistance to shock and wear for roughing and heavy machining of steel and steel alloys. Carbide is harder than high-speed or cobalt steel, making it more wear resistant at high speeds and providing longer tool life. The tip is brazed to a round steel shank that fits round toolholders.
