This microscope adjusts up and down and I can see a change in the light level through the eyepieces as I turn the other dial. I am not able to test further for lack of experience, but I would bet that the optics have never been cleaned or adjusted, so servicing may be needed. Physically, aside from markings from the NH Water Supply & Pollution Control Commission and what I think seem like normal signs of previous use, this microscope appears to be in good condition.
