The invisible wireless RF signal travels for a conveniently placed transmitter to a receiver located by the device you want to operate. A press of the transmitter turns on and off whatever light, TV or small appliance you have plugged into the receiver. The AmerTac Hand Held Transmitter and Plug-in Receiver allows you to power your appliance or light from another room or from outside. Plug your appliance or lamp into receiver, then receiver into any outlet. Press the keyfob transmitter to turn whatever is plugged into the receiver On or Off. Keyfob transmitter goes anywhere. REVIEW This works perfectly for my needs. I use it to turn on my wall mounted bed light that is too high to reach when lying down. I did have to exchange it for another one since the first one I got had the same code as the other one I am using downstairs. I just clip the hand held part to the headboard.
