This is the small size model for high precision work. These protractors were made with top quality materials and manufacturing to close tolerances. It is a very practical tool designed to measure angles to be laid out. Old quality. No rust. 150208 ? Marked: “LBS Trade mark”; “Brown & Sharpe Mfg. Co”; Providence, R. I. USA. Patented May 9 -1911”. Please notice that a previous owner beautifully engraved his initials on the tool. Overall length, approx.: 15.8 cm (6”) long x 7 cm. (2 3/4 ”) wide. Clearly stamped numbers and lines showing pitting, black scale, dents and scratches (please see pictures). ? It is all made of hardened high carbon steel, ground and tempered. The inner gear is in top condition with no broken or worn out teeth (thumb pinion – not included). ? The back side is flat which allows lying flat upon blue print paper or working area. ? The dial is graduated to degree the entire circle. ? The Vernier reads to 5 minutes (1-12 of a degree) and it is independently adjustable for calibration. The zero is right on the mark over a clean flat piece of glass. ? The blade can be moved back and forth it entire length and clamped independently of the dial. Clamping action is firm. ? Thumb knobs have a diamond pattern knurling and work very well. ? Box is not original to this tool. ?
