You are bidding on a wonderful antique apple peeler/parer in excellent condition. This cast iron kitchen appliance peels, cores and slices apples. The maker is unknown, but there is a partial patent date - June 14, 188? The last number of the year is missing because it appears to have been re-stamped. I called my grandmother and she gave me the following instructions. You clamp it to a table or other hard surface, draw the apple holder back, push either the stem or blossom end of the apple onto the three pins on the end of the long bar, push it forward until it is against the swiveling peeler, and begin to turn the handle. After the apple has been turned until it has passed through the round corer, it can be lifted off the core, which is still on the three pins, and you have a peeled apple which looks like a Slinky. One slice with a knife and each round becomes individual. A second slice and each round is cut in half. Pull the core off the pins and you are on to the next apple. Each segment of the peeler is connected to the main part by a screw. It can be completely disassembled for cleaning and/or repair. The corer and peeler blades can be sharpened. It is a fine example of our early industrialization products which were designed to make life easier for the ordinary housewife. Even many of the modern apple peelers are still made using this basic form. Please see photos for condition before bidding. What you see is what you are bidding on. Feel free to email with any questions. Payment by PayPal only. Shipping via USPS with tracking. Payment due within three days of winning auction. Thanks for your interest and good luck in your bidding.
