Merrimac Valley Textile Museum deaccession. Offered for auction is a printing block depicting a textile machine manufactured by the Davis & Furber Company of North Andover Massachusetts. The plate measures about 6 1/2 H x 5 13/16 inches wide. There is a name engraved in the lower left which is probably that of the block maker.  It appears to be copper over a thicker base metal mounted to a hard wood backing block.  Fine overall condition with several shallow scratches and dents. Davis & Furber was one of America's premier industrial revolution power house companies manufacturing textile and other machinery for mills in New England and beyond.  An attractive and historic piece representing much hand finishing. Companies invested much money in the manufacture of these plates to ensure an accurate representation of their product which would hopefully generate profitable sales.
