Antique Embosser Seal For Church Pastor Carl August Tolin

Up for bid is an embosser seal which belonged to the Reverend C.A. Tolin, who served as pastor of the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church. The seal is manufactured from cast iron, steel, and brass, and it weighs 5 lb. (this is not the shipping weight). It measures 6-5/16 by 2-1/8 inches at the base, and stands a total of 10-1/2 in. tall. The seal operates very well, and has two mounting holes in it's base. The paper imprint shown in the photo is 1-7/8 inch in diameter. Carl August Tolin was born in Sweden in 1868, and emigrated to the USA in 1872 with his family. He lived on a farm in Nebraska, then later graduated as valedictorian of his class from Luther Academy in Wahoo, NE in 1891. The same year Mr. Tolin enrolled at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, and was one of 19 graduates in 1895. In the fall of 1896 he entered Augustana Theological Seminary, graduating as a candidate for the ministry in 1899, and was ordained minister of the Gospel by the Augustana Synod on June 11 of that year at St. Paul, MN. On August 22, 1899 he became the pastor of the Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cadillac, Michigan. The Reverend Tolin passed away in 1961.
