ANTIQUE FRENCH STOCKMAN MANNEQUIN Legless and very lovely!! Really good shape and a fabulously decorative size. Marked Stockman Paris. Unusual in that it's black - very very distinctive. The covering and stitching is all good, there are no holes or rips. BUT little Mademoiselle Stockman has some smudges, marks and is slightly faded from time.. There are some marks- these may come out or lessen with a damp cloth, I've not tried. She would once have had a tripod base and just maybe a wood neck cover. I found this with a few odd antique sewing pins in - I shall not remove these as I think it adds to the charm of this piece. Fabulous piece for display or use. These make brilliant stands for necklaces, scarves and a hat. Great size to sit on a chest of drawers or wide mantlepiece. Just perfect in a window.. Marked on the wooden base is: 'Stockman Paris Brevete S.G.D.G 50205'. There are some hand scribbled numbers here as well, which I think would have been the quality controllers 'sign off' check.. Mademoiselle measures approximately: 26.5 inches - 70 cms bust. The waist is 24 inches - 61 cms. The hips are 28 inches - 71 cms. A 'slip of a thing' as my grandmother would have said! The height is 21 inches - 53 cms. The wooden base is 9.5 x 7 inches - 25 x 18 cms. She is a very very good and displayable size! These make brilliant stands for necklaces, scarves and a hat.
