Antique Lietz Stadia Hairs transit model #625 serial #28048. Estimate date of 1934-1938. All lenses seem to still be intact on the transit. I see no cracking or blistering, there is one minor surface scratch on the front lens; barely noticable. The focus tube slides freely when you turn the adjusting knob and all other knobs work as they should. The three bubble levels on the transit are still intact, and all have the fluid and bubble in them. The lock for the compass needle still works. The glass over the compass face is intact, no cracks or blistering. The transit appears to be brass with black enamel paint on it. There is some paint loss from use. The end cap and protector cap is included. Also included is a leather buckle pouch with misc tools and tripod. The wood case is still in great condition and has four hard rubber legs on the bottom. It does show wear from use. All hinges are securely attached and fully functional. The locking latch is still there but no key. The corners of the case are dovetailed together. The corners have protector plates. All but the bottom right corner one is there where it shows an insignificant crack/split (see pictures). The leather carrying strap could use conditioning but is still intact. Inside all pads and holders are intact and in place. It has a Mathis Instruments Co business card, 6 1/4 transit measurement list, Stadia Hairs ratio plaque, and a MITI Japanese Government inspection tag. There is a plaque on the top that reads "Lietz, San Francisco, Los Angeles" The wood case is 16 1/2" x 13 1/4" x 9". The transit's lens length is 11 1/2" and has a 2" diameter.
