Antique Printer's Ink Solvent Can Dispenser Brass 1907 Patent Date

US $390

Used to dispense solvents, this is a printer's can made by the McNutt Non-Explosive Manufacturing Company.  The last patent date stamped in the metal is 1907. When inverted, two fingers placed on either side of the nozzle would be used to press the nozzle down (similar to a plunger), which dispensed the solvent onto the ink plate of a press or onto the type or cut or rollers that are to be cleaned. The term "non-explosive" would presumably mean that this is an early equivalent of today's so-called "safety can".  This can appears to be in working condition, although I have not used it on my press or cuts or rollers. This can is in excellent condition for it's age, has clearly seen use in a print shop, and is an extraordinarily good display item -- whether next to your press or in the kitchen window at home.  These older cans are very hard to find and, if in antique shop, is more likely to be hidden away with old tools.
