Older estate find ,this auction is for a antique steam engine whistle/ steam relief valve. Previous owner purchased at some time from an auction and saved the auction tag that reads; "Steam engine whistle / steam relief valve from an old threshing engine - Marked "McRae & Roberts Company Detroit Mich. - Circa 1892 - 1906."  It is solid brass and about 4 1/2" long. The O.D of the male threaded end looks to be about 0.840 which according to a pipe chart I found  would make this 1/2" pipe thread size. The I.D. looks to me to be around 9/16". There are 7 threads within the 1/2" length of the threaded end which would make it 14 threads per inch. There are 4 cutout slots underneath the domed top. This looks to be one solid piece - no threaded joints [ except for the threaded end as described and on and off valve.  I see no cracks or damage that would make me believe that this would no work properly , but I do not have not the ability to test. Side valve turns 360 degrees. [ two open positions and two off positions. ]Weight is 1 lb. 4.3 oz. Except for expected wear to a old brass part, I believe this to be in good condition. All my auctions are sold as found so please email all questions before bidding. Shipping options are - flat rate priority padded envelope , parcel select or priority mail in a box. International bidders have the options of first class mail in a box or small flat rate priority mail .Thank you for looking.
