This classic Wild Heerbrugg Switzerland Theodolite NT2 with serial number no. 40338 is a rare Antique World War II USN NAVY Military item. It comes with a bomb case that has leather straps and a padded carry case. The NT2 was produced from 1936 to 1955 and if you want to learn more about its history and providence, you can visit the website wild-heerbrugg. The unit inside the safety case has dimensions of 23" tall and a base of 12" x 12". This item will be shipped free to CONUS buyers, while international buyers need to inquire about the shipping costs. The last photo from the historic website validates the model of this unit, and if you look at all the pictures, you will find the serial numbers, Navy bar code, and calibration dates. Research shows that this unit was initially under control by the Hydrographic Office which was later redesignated the U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) in 1962, and in 1976 the Office was relocated to the National Space Technology Laboratory (NSTL), which is now known as the John C. Stennis Space Center, in south Mississippi. The U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office is the proper name for NAVOCEANO (acronym seen on barcode sticker). This item is available for private inspection and will be shipped next business day, well packaged with new and recycled packing material, and insured with delivery confirmation. The payment is due within 48 hours of auctions end, and if you have any questions, please feel free to contact Debra at 843-259-9955. In 1921, the firm "Heinrich Wild, Werkstatte fur Feinmechanik und Optik" was founded in Heerbrugg by Colonel Jacob Schmidheiny of Balgach, the geologist Dr. Robert Helbling of Flums and the surveyor Heinrich Wild of Glarus. With a workforce of about 30, Heinrich Wild started designing and constructing his first instruments, including the T2 Universal Theodolite.
