AQUACEL AG + wound dressing. Aquacel Ag Extra wound dressing for the management of highly exuding wounds where infection by deadly bacteriais identified or at risk to be present. The new dressing incorporates the antimicrobial action of ionic silver and the proprietary Hydrofiber Technology, which gels on contact with fluid. The dressing is designed to be nine times stronger and to give an increased absorbency of 50% over current Aquacel Ag wound dressing. Numerous in vitro studies proved the efficacy of ionic silver in killing a broad spectrum of deadly superbugs such as E. coli, methicillin-resistantStaphylococcus aureus (MRSA), vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE), and Pseudomonas aeruginosa within 30 minutes of exposure to the dressing, for up to 7 days.
